Guest guest
Hi all! Just got back from a week of travel (my first since becoming a vegetarian a month ago) and boy is it difficult to eat healthy on the road! The only vegetarian options I could find at most of the places I went were veggie burgers or plain salads. That got old fast, and then I was left with deep fried vegetables or other grease-loaded stuff which I'm sure were fried in the same oil as the meats. I guess next time I need to plan better, take more of my own food, and call ahead to find out where to eat! Hugs, Ronda in Oregon The New Search - Faster. Easier. Bingo. Guest guest
Ronda A couple things can help. First - I've found that " better " resturants generally either have or would be willing to prepare foods to a clients liking. This is fine when the meals are on the companies tab - but can get kinda expensive when YOU are responsible for the AMEX bill that arrives at your door! I've found, over the past few years, that many resturants advertised as Kosher will have food that is both Kosher and vegetarian - when it comes to not getting sick from what you eat that's sort of the best of both worlds! Contacting a Jewish social center or something along those lines can bring a wealth of information to the surface regarding vegetarian eating establishments as well as Kosher places. A nice thing that I've found in Kosher resturants is that the meat and veggies are not prepared in the same cook pots - so there's less cross contamination than in " regular " resturants. When I travel, I always pack my own stuff for airport and/or long drive scenarios. It's rare that you can find ANYTHING worth eating in most airports, and McDonalds and the like just don't do anything for me along the road. Best of luck!
