Guest guest
Okay, I'm officially a bozo. I made my first pita yesterday and it fell apart. First the bread was too dry and kept cracking and breaking. I tried to soften it by putting a few drops of water on it and microwaving it, but that made it too soft. When I picked it up, the contents fell out. DH says I wasn't supposed to put the food IN the pita, it goes on top and gets folded up like a taco. Bleh. Still was pretty good with a knife and a fork (thanks for the ideas Jigilou!). Uh, help? What did I do wrong? Laurie _______________ Tired of spam? Guest guest
Laurie, you're not a bozo - you're an expiramentor! I think it depends on what kind of pita you used. I often use the thicker, Middle Eastern kind, often associated with Falafel. (I'll try to find some brand names for you.) These often hold up well, although it does make a difference if you have moist veggies (ie just washed) or if you wait awhile to eat it. The other way to do it is to get traditional Mexican tortilla bread and roll those up, much like a taco. Be sure to get a thicker version of that too, tho. And, wrap it in tinfoil, slowly unwrapping as you eat. That helps it keep its shape and not dissintigrate. Hope that helps! , " Laurie B " <laitaina@h...> wrote: > > Okay, I'm officially a bozo.
