Guest guest
When you first become a vegetarian, what do you remember being the most difficult food item to stop eating? Probably chicken of any kind...that's really the bulk of what I ate before becoming vegetarian anyway...so definitely that and also sushi as well. What was the easiest (be specific as possible)? Red meat. I did enjoy an occasional hamburger, but other than that I just couldn't deal with the thought of it. It made me nauseated. Along these lines, what foods do people crave that you no longer eat? Do you break down occasionally and eat them, or have you found a substitute for them? What do you do to deal with the cravings? I do miss good chicken chinese food...Chinese food used to be my favorite but find without the meat it just doesn't have the same appeal to me that it used to and I agree with someone that posted that they weren't quite sure about the sauce when they ate it...so I usually just steer clear as well. Sometimes when I drive by a BBQ place, I remember how much I liked that taste, but after finding the Gardenburger riblets and chicken patty that has gotten easier. There is also a fabulous little sushi place that I loved but it's not too hard just having the cucumber and tofu rolls now. I have never given in to the temptation of eating meat in the almost 1 1/2 years I have been doing this...in fact I find myself becoming nauseated now by the thought of eggs and dairy. When I have cravings I usually just made a big old pasta salad, seems to help. Is it true that eating meat after a prolonged period of abstinence will make you physically ill? I had heard this but after hearing that many of you do....just wondered. Have a wonderful day! Jeanette The New Search - Faster. Easier. Bingo.
