Can you cook with soy milk????? I tried in my standard macaroni and

cheese once, and the whole thing tasted like vanilla. It wasn't

vanilla soy milk either. I think it was eden soy.

Any thoughts???

Really? Like vanilla?

Hm... I have used soy milk in cream sauce-type

casseroles with pretty good success before. I am

not sure what brand it was, but I use a plain.

Maybe next time read the label to make sure there

isn't added sweetener which may have been the

cause for the vanilla like flavor. I recall the brand I used

smelled kind of sourish. I knew I had just opened it

and it wasn't bad or dated so I used it up in all

my recipes with good results. Might have been Silk

brand....

Yes you can cook with soy! I have used soy milk to make a vegan white

sauce (it came out quite cheesy which was odd given it didnt have any

cheese), in soups to make them " creamy " & in baked goods. Generally I just

use it as a direct subsitute for dairy milk in a recipe. The vanilla

flavour could have something to do with the brand, I have found some

brands taste better than others. I personally use Vitasoy Calci-Plus

variety as I like the taste, but I'm nto sure if it is availabel outside

of Australia.
