Guest guest
Hi all, Time to start emailing. Using live rabbits in a photo shoot for children over the Easter period is not only sending out the wrong message about what these animals are about but would also be a stressful experience for the animals involved! Write to them expressing your disgust in this promotion. Some points that you may wish to include in your email: * Rabbits are 'prey animals' meaning that they can become quite stressed easily. Rabbits are instinctively timed and easily frightened. * Children and rabbits are rarely a good mix as children lack the ability to handle a rabbit correctly; rabbits are not an animal that can be picked up and cuddled easily like other pets. * A promotion such as this is sending out a very very negative image about rabbits. Children will want to own a pet rabbit which is very different to having a dog or cat and extremely different to a once off cuddle for the camera. As rabbits are a cheap pet to buy, it will mean more bunnies bought from pet shops to be later left to fend for themselves or dumped because it was never desexed and yearned for a mate. * Rather than using live rabbits, what about toy rabbits ? It is safer for the children who can get scratched and bitten by a live rabbit.
