Guest guest
>LOL, ~P_T~ please fulfill my feeble mind and tell me where the word > " banger " >came from. Irish? To put your minds at rest... because i know you're all dying to know where the word " banger " came from... It is a british term (mainly English i think) which came about during the second world war when rationing was in place. There was so much water content in the sausages that when they were grilled or fried they made a popping noise, like mini explosions, hence the word " banger " . Another useless fact from the depths of my mind! Ah, all creatures great and small. I remember watching that when i was younger. I'm suprised it aired outside of the UK though. Cool. At least it gives a different view of British people to the ones normally shown in US shows like friends and the simpsons. i don't know anyone who talks ar acts like Emily did in friends. I think Daphne from Frasier is far more typical of British women. But enough of my ranting i'm off to have lunch Laura ----------- Take a look at my : My online diary is at: http://laurakate01.diaryland.com/ ----------- " A man can live and be healthy without killing animals for food; therefore, if he eats meat, he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his appetite. And to act so is immoral. " - Leo Tolstoy (1828-1910) ----------- _______________ Overloaded with spam? Guest guest
In my neck of the American woods, we mainly have public television (PBS-affiliations) to thank for importing British telly shows (albeit mostly older sitcoms).
