Guest guest
Hello to the group. My name is Mindy and I live in Missouri not far from St. Louis. I was diagnosed as a Type II diabetic in November 1999 and have had a very hard time controlling my food intake and my weight. I was fortunate enough to find a web site discussing diabetes and a vegetarian diet. After reading the information there, I began to look for additional resources on the compatibility of vegetarianism and diabetes. In every article I have read, consuming vegetables, fruits and grains is stated as the best direction a diabetic could go. Even with insurance, my medication is becoming too expensive to maintain. I am hoping that slowly converting to a vegetarian diet -- or something very close -- will allow me to cut back on my medication and be in much better health. At any rate, I believe I will feel physically better if I lean more in this direction. When I am not interviewing clients, I write for a living. I hope to gain more energy to where I can be more productive as a writer. I am not interested in statements on the morality or religious aspects connected to a vegetarian regimen, but in its health benefits. I hope I have found a home where I can learn more about changing my eating habits without moral or religious judgments. THANKS Mindy
