I think it is a healthier lifestyle choice for everyone of our

species,

but yes, it is a good path for those with type II diabetes. I cannot

stress enough, though, the importance of getting enough

excersize, as well as limiting caloric intake. That is indeed the

only true way to lose weight, whether your diet be vegetables or

all meat. If you eat more than your body uses, and the weight

increases. This is just the way of it, then added sometimes are

other factors like slow metobolic rates, thyroid etc....

Vegetarianism is the better road. You will get more energy, feel

better, and be on the best road to health that I have found. I wish

you much success and health. If you have any specific questions

about food prep, or certain recipes, and/or vegetarian sources

do not hesitate to ask. :)

Welcome Mindy! I'm new too, but already I've found some great

recipes. While I'm a " moral " vegetarian, I can definitely tell you

that I've felt healthier and happier since making the switch. And,

now with so many alternatives available, it's easier than ever!

Don't be afraid of going veggie. I had a 15-person brunch yesterday

and cooked an entirely vegan buffet without telling anyone. I got

raves at the food - especially the " beef " -stuffed peppers. No one

knew that I was doing them - and their waistline - a favor.

I agree with PT ... exercise is key to maintaining a healthy weight.

Even going out for a walk at lunchtime is a great start. A lot of

malls these days also have " mall walker " programs, where they open

the mall early or keep it open late to folks who want to walk but

might not be able to go out in inclement weather. Look into it!

Welcome and Bon Appetite!
