Guest guest
The only problem is that Jiffy isn't lacto-ovo or vegan, so you should refrain from listing it by brandname in your recipes posted here. You can simply say: packaged biscuit mix of your choice, then give the amount in cup measures or ounces that the recipe requires. TIA. BTW, if you are talking what is less expensive and all, I have a wonderful recipe for a homemade biscuit mix you can throw together yourself at home and it is less expensive than even Jiffy mix and Bisquick brand. You get the good feeling of knowing exactly what is in it (or not in it as the case may be) and it is economical as well. Hope you like it. Quick Mix (to use as you would bisquick) 8 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 4 Tbs baking soda 1 Tbs salt 2 tsp cream of tartar 1 tsp baking soda 1 1/2 cups instant nonfat dry milk or dry buttermilk powder 2 1/4 cups vegetable shortening In a large bow;, sift together all the dry ingredients. Blend well. With a pastry cutter, cut in shortening until mixture resembles cornmeal in texture. Put in an airtight container. Label and date contents. Store in a cool, dry place. Use within 10 to 12 weeks. Makes about 13 cups of mix. copied from Make-A-Mix cookbook by: Karine Eliason, Nevada Howard and Madeline Westover ~ P_T ~ Let us endeavor so to live that when we die even the undertaker will be sorry ~ Mark Twain ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~> , " Don " < darkinvader45210> wrote: > As far as the Jiffy Mix is concerned - I don't think that there is > that much lard in it that's " really " going to cause one problems. > After all - all of the ingredients are turned to a flour substance, > but being a partial vegetarian - I really think it's nit-picking > about the ingredients in a fine product like Jiffy.
