Happy Sunday!

Some of us do not support fireworks for many reasons. For many years I

have wanted to initiate a movement to encourage drumming instead of

fireworks for holidays and special events. Fireworks cause noise, air,

water, and ground polution. They terrify wild and domestic animals and

increase cases of asthma, not to mention are responisble for many

injuries and fires. The origin of fireworks for New Years was in

China. Prior to the fireworks, they burned bamboo to scare away evil

spirits. This practice evolved to the use of fireworks and spread to

other holidays and " special " events.

Using drumming (circles, parades, etc.) will create loud rythmic noise

which can " scare away " " evil spirits " , yet is not as harsh a noise,

but is more in tune us and Mother Earth, and will likely not have the

terrifying effect on animals, the negative health impact on humans,

nor the damaging effect on the environment. A bonus is that everyone

can participate instead of just being observers, and it can be great

exercise. These drumming events can be very socializing community

events. (They also won't cost so much money).

Having said that, if you are interested in helping create the wording,

etc. for a website to help spread the word of this movement, please

contact me off-list. Also, if you are interested in helping spread the

word or in starting a Meet-up group in your area for this purpose,

please contact me. We have the 4th of July coming up. It would be

great to have groups and events set up as alternatives to the

fireworks. I already have a domain name, so just need to set it up and

spread the work.

(Imagine groups of people with the smallest of drums all the way to

the largest of drums, like Japanese Taiko drums!)

Thanks,

Jeff

Did you know that there is a 3 day drumming symposium at Seattle Center this

coming weekend? (I was told that it was a free event) I have a friend who will

be attending and I have forwarded your email to him.

Many blessings

Love, Light, Power and Prosperity

Thanks Ramona!

Another friend, who has been in on the discussions, will be attending

the event. If I get the site up in time he can hand out papers with

the web site. Thanks for helping!
