Guest guest
I wanted to take a moment to address the raw foods community of Washington State to give you a status update on our organization. As most of you know, I opened a raw foods cafe in the Roosevelt neighborhood in late 2008, and since that time, my level of participation in Raw Network of Washington has dwindled. You may have noticed fewer author events, less frequent email updates about upcoming events, etc. It sure takes something to run a successful business and I have been feverishly working hard to make Thrive a success so that those in our community have a place to go to gather, socialize, and eat yummy raw food. So after 3 years and a few thousand volunteer hours, the time has come for me to officially announce my resignation as President/Executive Director of Raw Network of Washington. I feel that the organization would do very well with some new energy... some new leadership to continue making it a thriving venture in partnership with those in the community. I have asked a number of responsible friends in the raw foods community if they would be interested in taking over the leadership of the organization, and two people, Stephanie Brown and Dorothy Sager, have expressed interest. However, they can not do it alone, and if Raw Network of Washington is to continue, they need support of several additional community members to make it a " thriving " success. I will be available for assistance with the transition. I will be hosting a community meeting on Monday, August 17, 2009 from 7:00 - Completion for those who would like to participate as leaders in Raw Network of Washington at my restaurant Thrive. I would encourage anyone who would like to see the organization, and is willing to forth some work and effort, to attend the meeting. The outcome of this meeting will determine the future of the organization. If no leadership is established by the end of the meeting, the organization, and the .org website, will be officially shutting down. To RSVP for the meeting, please contact Stephanie Brown right away. Her email address is Stephanie. I would love for the organization to continue. It took a lot of hard work and long hours to build, and has been such a wonderful resource for anyone looking to transform their health through fresh foods. I urge you to help keep it going by coming to the meeting and offering your time and leadership to continue making it available to everyone in our community. Sincerely, Monika Kinsman Founder, Raw Network of Washington " Think outside the oven. "
