pasteurization of Almonds

One interesting aspect of the discussion on pasteurization of Almonds in this

group was the absence of the real reasons behind this action.

 

 

 

Two of the most powerful industries in the US are the meat and dairy industry.?

The safety of these products is often ignored and the below link talks about

deaths per 100,000 not total deaths from just 4 meat contaminants.

Almonds are used to make almond milk, puddings, pates etc. directly mimicking

meat and dairy products.? The meat and dairy industry while probably the cause

of the almond contamination wants to have almonds pasteurized to

 

 

 

1 raise the cost of almonds to the consumers

 

2 make the almonds look as equals to meat and dairy in danger

 

3 decrease the nutritional benefits of almonds - a competing product

 

 

Please remember these industries are the primary cause of greenhouse gases,

deforestation, human heart disease and cancer.

His book Mad Cowboy talks about these industries.? If you remember President

Nixon's Watergate tapes: his advisor says about the dairy industry, " These

people are serious about donations " as he shows Nixon a briefcase with $400,000

in cash (and this was in the 1970's).? Nixon returned the favor and gave the

dairy industry millions in price supports and more in preferential treatment.

 

 

My personal experience was while pre-med and volunteering in a laboratory.? The

lab head told me of a scientist who traced river pollution in WA state back to

some dairy farms.? The scientist knew the power and arrogance of these people so

he drafted a plan to have the government (you and me) pay for the necessary

changes to the farm to reduce the pollution.? The dairy people told him to take

a hike - no one was going to tell them what to do.? The scientist was fired and

his report / research destroyed.
