Guest guest
i just came across a book that says that ''the nut is poisonous unless roasted until all the oil is boiled out. care must be taken not to touch the oil in the nut with the bare hands. the oil will irritate the skin and cause swelling.’’ another new source of info says, ''the kidney-shaped nut is poisonous unless shelled and roasted to eliminate the poisonous oil. care must be taken not to allow the oil in the nut to make contact with the bare hands, because it can cause irritation and swelling similar to the symptoms of poison ivy.'' guess that could explain the poison ivy like blisters on one of my fingers but i also tasted it and my mouth didn’t get blisters. i hand juiced several fruits and drank the juice, it's more astringent than i remember which makes me question drinking it, like it's telling me something. interesting, intriguing flavor and fragrance tho. as far as is it a nut or a seed? it's hard to tell by webster’s definition but aren't nuts actually seeds with a hard shell? it's watermelon season here now and most of the watermelons here are the round type grown for export and the extras are sold locally off the backs of pickups loaded to the max. i've been eating a 2/3# melon everyday for a month or more and still not tired of it. mangos are starting to come in but they're kinda pricy yet tho catching my eye... jfi, there's very little imported produce here, most all fruit and veggies are locally grown and seasonal. in fact fruits, veggies, rice, corn, salt, sugar, cooking oils, fresh seafood, grass feed beef and more are produced within 50 miles of me. y'all in the states have a way better selection of fruit and veggies and often better prices than we do but... we have summer all year : ) norm : ))~ ~~~ interesting place, this panamá ~~~
