Guest guest
Hi Michelle, I'm looking back at this whole thread you initiated with your post, below. Apparently, you have a blood test indicating " elevated homocysteine levels " , but you do not provide numerical data ... do you have that available? Then, you shift to an inquiry about B vitamins. The remainder of the thread consists of people responding about B vitamins, then B12 in particular, and whatnot. If you would still like to pursue this conversation, I am happy to assist you here, in this group. I would begin by asking you a few simple questions, as finding out where you are will help guide further input. 1. Do you know what homocysteine is? 2. Do you know how homocysteine typically occurs in a human body? 3. Do you know what effects homocysteine is believed to have in a human body? 4. What leads you from a lab result about homocysteine into an inquiry about " B vitamins " ? Best regards, Elchanan _____ Michelle mdlvseattle [delavega.michelle] Monday, February 09, 2009 12:46 PM vitamin B deficency Hello, I think I remember reading some posts over the last few years regarding vegan diet and Vitamin B deficiency. I've been a raw vegan for about 3 years and think I may be becoming deficient (recently had a blood test that indicated elevated homocysteine levels). I would greatly appreciate information anyone may have to share on this topic such as symptoms, good supplement sources for B vitamins etc. My primary care doctor thinks that I would be showing serious signs of unclear thinking and trouble walking. Has anyone had these experiences? I have done very well with the raw vegan diet and juice fasting - it has helped me immensely with some heath issues that no doctor (and I saw many of them) alternative or otherwise was able to help me with. I've had great energy and a major reduction in inflammation symptoms until recently. This winter however, I have had what appears to be a pretty low immune system, low energy, and miscarriages. One of my main questions is is it possible to have a B deficiency and not be experiencing serious or noticeable problems thinking and walking? I know these things can be complex, but my intuition and the fact that I have been a vegan for such a long time and not supplemented any b vitamins, has me feeling that it is likely I am deficient. I'd like to gather all the information I can right now. I love the raw vegan life and want to continue to be successful, energetic and healthy with it. Any suggestions, experiences, information is very welcome! Thank you, Michelle
