Hi Blanc,

Thanks for continuing this dialog, I'm enjoying it!

Sounds as if that speaker use the term " religion " a bit sarcastically, then,

not really meaning it in any literal sense.

Yes, I have met many RFs who come across this way, that all cooked foods are

poisons and all raw foods are wonderful. Nothing could be further from the

truth. For example, I find that people who eat a healthful raw dietary and

include some steamed veggies or the like do quite well. In contrast, I find

that people who try to live on all the junk-food raw recipes out there

typically struggle like crazy, and that most simply exit, they give up, they

conclude that " raw food didn't work for me " , or the like. Of course, such

discourse reflects a lack of information and comprehension, but most are

unaware of this.

Regarding the ministry, I think I would turn your sentence around to more

accurately describe my experience. I grew up participating very actively in

the Jewish community, so both the religious aspects and the more cultural

aspects, the sense of history and interconnectedness, have always been quite

comfortable and familiar to me. What changed in 1999 was my learning how to

interconnect religion/spirituality, law, liberty, finances ... an entire way

of living and being ... in one integrated whole. This appealed immediately

to my deeply ingrained sense of the whole (holism).

So I would say that what I learned during that time helped me give voice

more clearly to my values system, as well as to clarify many things, yes.

And although the RF came first, I would say that my RF transformation simply

became a part of that larger journey, as did fasting and many other things.

Best regards,

Elchanan

The speaker was referring to the attitude of some raw foodies that only the

" 100% raw " are worthy and that anyone who does not maintain this maximum

percentage is a sinner who has fallen from grace. So I was bemused at the

association between your own raw foodism and a ministry as well - not that

these two are on the same plane as the raw worshipers, of course.

Anyway I'm guessing that it was the ministry which changed your value system

and on account of it you either discovered, or were introduced to, the ideas

of eating raw, rather than that you discovered eating raw and that it

changed your value system so as to go toward this ministry. It would seem

to facilitate going in that direction. Thanks for the explanation.
