But that, South Bend chef Michele Dahms says, isn’t the case at all. Raw food goes beyond just carrots and celery stalks. Comfort foods can be created using only fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and sprouted grains. Dishes such as burgers, enchiladas, milk shakes, and even cinnamon rolls can exist within a raw foods diet, all without the familiar ingredients of meat, dairy, white sugar, white flour, and even heat.
