Water purification

I apologize if this is considered only tangentially related, but I'm

trying to find a water purification solution for myself and family.

 

There are so many products out there and various

statements/claims/etc.... I know I do want to remove as much as

possible including flouride. Distillation doesn't seem practical. I've

heard that you do want the minerals, but I'd sacrifice that for

purity--I wouldn't mind " remineralizing " it afterwards.

 

I also like the idea of a solution for showering and such, also.

 

Anyway... if anyone can suggest some direction for me, I'd appreciate it.
