Guest guest
Hi Jim, Thanks for staying with this conversation. You write: Stopping eating unhealthy things is only part of the process. The healthier for you the things you consume are, the healthier you will be! Just simple logic! Yes, in the long run, what we eat provides what our body uses to construct and run itself. But what you call " cleansing " does not occur as a result of what we eat. This is an almost universally held misconception. Cleansing and restoration of an organism ... ANY organism ... occurs always and whenever that organism experiences relative rest (sometimes called " comparative rest " ). In other words, it is primarily our cycling between activity and recovery that controls cleansing, not what we eat. What we eat has a large influence upon restoration and replenishment ... but cleansing occurs in a state of rest. Physiologists have long comprehended this basic idea, but so-called " nutritionists " have yet to comprehend it, for the most part. When we stop ingesting garbage ... whether that garbage be food or otherwise .... our entire being experiences a state of relative rest ... rest in contrast with what occurred moments before. And our entire being springs into action to cleanse and restore itself. Which brings me to my next idea. You write: We both agree that cleansing is critical and that a toxic body is what makes one sick and prevents healing. Actually, we do not so agree, and this point is fundamental to understanding what causes and sustains health. Principle for Vibrant Living: Every organism cleanses, restores, and replenishes itself through constructive use. In simple English, one might say, " Use it or lose it " ... but this only covers part of the ground. When we use any part of our being constructively .... as it is designed to be used ... our being acts to create optimal health. When we do anything else ... our being still acts to create the best health it can. But the result cannot ever be " optimal " . Imagine a person who overuses a muscle to the point where s/he experiences pain, even chronic pain. This person can " cause " that muscle to heal by ceasing the overuse, resting, THEN instituting a new program of constructive use. The same applies to the digestive system, there is no difference. The moment we stop putting foreign matter in, the entire body has less junk to process, and a state of relative rest ensues. Immediately, the body sets about cleansing itself. This occurs NOT primarily because of what we eat at that point in time, but rather because of what we stop eating. As I wrote in a previous post, fasting on water alone provides the deepest form sustained rest known ... and also results in the deepest and most rapid organismic cleansing and restoration attainable. This is true of all life and of all organs and systems, body, mind, and spirit. Whenever we use our being constructively, it creates health. Whenever we do not, then our being creates the best health it can under the circumstances. Life knows of no other way in which to operate. Best to all Elchanan _____ health Monday, December 08, 2008 8:13 PM RE: Creating Health: What We STOP Eating Matters (WAS: Article: What's the deal with juicing? ...) Stopping eating unhealthy things is only part of the process. The healthier for you the things you consume are, the healthier you will be! Just simple logic! For over 4 years I made dramatic healthy lifestyle improvements and went without juicing. Simply eating/blending whole organic foods. Then I saw what a difference juicing makes! Not only me , but people could see it in me as well! If eating/blending whole organic food alone was enough then it would have made a difference. When I started juicing I felt & saw (as did MANY others) a difference! Juice fasting has been shown to be more effective that water fasting. Which only makes sense because your body has more of the nutrients it needs to cleanse. BarleyMax certainly adds to my health! BIG time! I can tell! Other people can tell it adds to theirs as well! We both agree that cleansing is critical and that a toxic body is what makes one sick and prevents healing. Counting anything is useless! Calories, fats, carbs, sugars, etc. I can elaborate MUCH more on the topic of weight but am trying to focus on juicing here. Juicing is the fastest way way to improve health and I wish I had juiced MANY years earlier! The ways humans can positively alter food: (In order) 1. Juicing 2. Sprouting 3. Fermenting/culturing 4. Blending Those are really the only major ways humans can positively alter food. Every other alteration is negative! , Please let me know if anybody thinks of another way. Thanks!
