Guest guest
I totally AGREE! The anti-coagulants/blood thinners mentioned below are healthful and NOT dangerous as the drug forms ARE! All but one form is vegan and any oil high in omega-3's can be substituted such as flax. There are MANY other minor anti-coagulants, but these are the major ones. Although certain people in health situations such as myself STILL need to consume them! I wish I had attend her lecture! I heard it was quite good! I will request TZ's book from the Seattle Library. Nobody should have to have hip surgeries. Clearly she was doing something wrong, but I will try to read her book anyway. Just shows AGAIN that diet is crucial, but not the only element of great health! Thanks! Vitamin E - Must be the D (d-alpha) form, NOT the DL form. A recent study shows it more effective than Heparin, which is used in hospitals for it's anti-coagulant effect (heparin comes from pig intestines). EPA/DHA-Fish Oils - Use Carlson or Nordic Naturals brand Cod Liver Oil liquid, which comes in lemon flavor if one prefers no fish oil taste, or even capsules. Fish oils MUST be from Wild Fish and Molecularly Distilled as are the two brands mentioned. Consider using Vital Choice brand Salmon Oil. Tocotrienols - The anti-clotting factor in Vitamin E. Lecithin & Carnitine - They do not have an anti-coagulation effect, but make fat-soluble nutrients (such as those above) much more effective. Use refrigerated Lecithin granules from a non-GMO source. Use L-Carnitine, NOT DL-Carnitine. Nattokinase - From the Japanese food Natto. Relatively new; possibly the most effective anti-coagulant of all. Effective as an anti-inflammatory as well. Vinpocetine - From the periwinkle plant, a strong anti-coagulant which is recommended for brain circulation, do NOT use if a a hemorrhage stroke has been had or is a concern. Organic, Fresh & Raw Garlic - I know many hate it, but everyone should take it for it's MANY healthful benefits. When Garlic is organic it doesn’t have the spice or odor of non-organic garlic (both vary depending on the kind of garlic). Combining garlic with avocado & other foods removes spice. Consumption of parsley or something very high in chlorophyll will reduce/eliminate any odor. Use Kyolic 100 capsules in addition and to avoid the spice and/or smell of raw cloves. On Behalf Of Joan Wyatt Tuesday, November 11, 2008 8:55 AM Dangers of Blood Thinners I attended the lecture at Bastyr a few months ago with Tonya Zavasta which was very educational. She showed us pictures of " normal " blood cells (normal being from the average cooked food eater) and they were stringy or " sticky " as she called them as they were stuck together in strands. Then she showed us a picture of healthy, plump, round individual blood cells from someone who eats a raw diet. She has had several hip surgeries and refused the blood thinner that is standardly given in the hospital and only pretended to take the aspirin they gave her as with aspirin, they don't have to watch you take it. She just had a strong feeling that it would not be good to take anything. After extensive researching later on, she said she was so glad she refused the medications as it could have killed her as her blood was not " normal " (sticky like most people's). She made some great points like how research and testing is done on the average cooked foodists, not those who eat raw. I don't have her book with me to better quote her but it's all noted in her first book, Your Right to be Beautiful, The Miracle of Raw Foods. Basically, if one has been eating raw for any length of time, the blood cells are plump, individual and truly healthy and giving a person a blood thinner can be very dangerous because the blood is already " thin " compared to those who eat cooked foods. I highly recommend her books and DVD lecture. Very eye opening. Guest guest
Tonya was born in Russia with a hip problem and one of her legs was longer than the other. They tried to correct it but it was not successful. That is one of the reasons she came to the US so it had nothing to do with her diet. She was told she would never walk but is doing great today thanks to her surgeons and raw foods.
