Guest guest
Hi everyone! Thank you for your patience while that recent issue played out (hopefully it's out!) As you may know, this list actually does frown upon off-topic posts. This list is for discussions surrounding raw vegan foods. On occasion, posts are made which are not at all related to our list and they are moderated. We actually do stop many that never make it to the list (like this list really needs to hear about diet pills!) We do not moderate every post by every member. That is why some posts do get through. Established members have more freedom than do people who just joined the group. This is one reason some topics start. As our moderators are voluntary and are not able to moderate the list 24/7, we sometimes miss a whole string of posts, such as was the case recently. Having said that, there are some topics which may seem off-topic, but still touch upon diet and health, etc. and still may have a place here. While not everyone on the list may put their views eloquently and in a diplomatic way, their views (both sides) still have a place on the list (within limit), though an effort should be made to present views in a way that would be welcomed by the list and its members. In other words, share views don't push them. Consider using " I " statements. If you have a view, it is your view. Take ownership. I suspect some members may have been struggling with the I-1000 issue. That may explain some of the passionate posts. I know I appreciated some of the views and insights. True, I didn't appreciate ALL the posts, but did appreciate some of the experience. Hopefully others on the list also gained insights into other views. I believe the dialog also served to allow people to vent. This list, while it may offer a lot of good information about raw foods, doesn't often get that " heated " . The volume of recent posts brings me to another point: Please trim your posts. This is an ongoing problem on this list (like many others). As the volume of posts increase, the size and length of the " Daily Digest " of our list gets greater. Those members who receive the Daily Digest would likely greatly appreciate it if all posts were trimmed! When replying to a message PLEASE... trim the previous text which you are replying to. If you simply hit " Reply " (or " Reply to All " ) and do not edit any of the previous text and only add your own post, then that entire previous post (sometimes two or three or more previous posts) will appear AGAIN on the list. When our members have just read a post, they need not see the entire post again and again. If you are replying to a specific sentence and including that will help members understand your post, then include that sentence (or paragraph, etc.). But, please, take a moment to edit the text that you are replying to. I have seen daily digests on lists before that ended up being the equivalent of a 50 page document, instead of a page or so of new text. Feel free to review the guidelines on our main page (/ ), as well in the File section ( " Posting Etiquette " ) .. If you still have questions, feel free to email me off-list. When posting to the list, please remember that we have a diverse group of people with varying views. Please try to honor others when sharing your own views. As Nick reminds us occasionally, we have a companion email list. While it may not be convenient to take a discussion to a different list, it would be a way of keeping this list more on-topic. If you have a topic that doesn't quite fit into " raw vegan " , but you wish to get the insights of this community, consider having the discussion on that list: RawDailyWisdom/ Perhaps post an invite here, introducing the topic and inviting people to the other list. Peas out! (Hey, that'll be a new button!) Jeff
