Guest guest
You are right on Washington State Medicial Association opposing I-1000. I should have never mentioned that and nobody should EVER accept doctors diagnosis of terminal either! That statement about animals & humans was written after 1AM. I would clarify, simply to state that humans and animals are NOT the same and should NOT be treated the same. I am NOT a hunter, factory worker, or vivisectors and have NEVER been any one of them! Giving someone the NEW right to choose to kill themselves is NOT having their best interest at heart! On Behalf Of Nora Lenz Monday, November 03, 2008 8:03 AM Re: Respnding to Blanc Jim, I assume the reason you mentioned that medical professionals oppose I-1000 was to give credence to your own position. Knowing what we all know about how flawed and fraudulent medicine is, aligning yourself with them does not do you credit. It's not hard to figure out why a medical association would oppose this initiative. Slow lingering deaths are lucrative. Personally, anytime the medical profession backs something I tend to run the other direction, but the truth is there are lots of individual doctors who support this initiative. It's really the system that opposes it, because the system is heartless and cold and always goes for the money. " The taking of a human life can't be justified...I wonder how many of you that are voting YES on I-1000 would support a similar measure that applied to animals?!? " This is the kind of accusation we usually hear from vivisectors, hunters and factory farmers. Well, your challenge doesn't work because we already perform the act of merciful death on animals too sick to recover. It's legal and it's a loving and compassionate thing to do, if circumstances warrant it. It is not those who support I-1000 who have the double standard, Jim, it is *you*. One way for animals (they are disposable), another way for humans (they are too special to die). I guess now you'll say that you want to remove the option of euthanasia for animals, too. Thanks for offering to coach our dying loved ones and make them see the error of their ways. But knowing that if you're not able to convince them to get healthy you would subject them to a cruel and prolonged death, I'll pass. You can't really have their interests at heart, anyway, if you would take away the option of escape that the rest of us take for granted.
