Hi Ron,

It's true, there are many cleanse vendors out there, ready to sell you their

version of a magic bullet to heal all that ails you. You can buy cleanses

for your colon, gall bladder, liver, and lord knows what else. I recommend

using none of these products and programs, and as Toni and Bob have

mentioned, I have written about this on a number of occasions. Below, I

provide my most recent post on the topic, originally published in the

GoingRaw group as post #1488. After you read this, please feel free to

inquire further, I am happy to discuss this topic at some length here if you

(and/or anyone else :):) wish.

Regarding your specific question, about those photos, it seems quite natural

to me that, if I ingest a large quantity of very high-fiber foreign matter

(what colon cleanses are primarily made of), that I would get out what

Nature typically makes out of large quantities of such material. And a lot

of very fibrous material is what you likely see, if the pictures are

sufficiently clear and close-up. Yes?

There are people out there who routinely get to look close-up at the insides

of people's intestinal walls. These are the surgeons and surgical nurses who

perform intestinal surgical procedures. Please don't take what I say here

the " wrong " way, I do not mean to advocate for their surgical treatments.

But these ARE intelligent people and they do have eyes. To my knowledge,

every one of these people with whom anyone I know has ever spoken has

reported the same thing: there is no " build-up " on the intestinal walls.

There may be pockets of material tucked away in little protrusions, such as

diverticuli, but no build-up, not even a little bit.

You are looking at photos of what comes out after a colon cleanse. The

people who routinely look at the insides of the sickest colons on Earth

report nothing that looks like what's in those photos. Ergo, what's in the

photos was produced of what went in as the cleanse.

The inner diameter of a typical human colon is roughly that of a human

finger (as one on your hand). So hold up your hand and look at a finger (any

finger should do in this case). Now look at the photos. If that stuff

actually WERE inside your colon for an extended period of time, what are the

odds that ANYTHING else would have gotten through that little tube and come

out the exit orifice?

I once read a detailed explanation about how this material supposedly builds

up in the colon. At that time, I noticed one teeny, tiny problem with the

explanation ... we would have had to rewrite the laws of physics for it to

have worked. (Specifically, a few points about gravity.)

Regarding those testimonials, I can put just about anyone on a simplified,

low-calorie diet for a few days and they will ALL report feeling better.

This occurs not because of what I fed them, but because of what they did not

eat. This perceived improvement is the product of digestive rest and nothing

more. And I can accomplish this " miracle " using any of dozens of different

diets, and most of those would incorporate cooked food.

Hope this helps a bit. Save your money, go to Hawai'i! :):)

Best,

Elchanan

[GoingRaw post #1488]

Greetings, and thanks for your question.

All life, from the simplest, single-cell organism to the most complex forms,

possesses the capacity to monitor, cleanse, restore, and replenish itself. I

am aware of no life form on this planet, other than a few well-meaning but

misinformed humans, that attempts to cleanse itself by force. Yet that is

exactly what these cleanses ... of every type I've ever encountered ...

attempt.

The " typical " story goes something like this:

1. Your body is not capable of cleansing itself, or it has been overloaded

with this and that, or the like.

2. Your conscious mind knows how to " make " your body cleanse itself in " just

the right way(s) " .

3. Well, not exactly YOUR conscious mind ... someone else's, someone who

" knows " ... with his or her conscious mind.

4. We create a concoction of the conscious mind ... a formulaic cleanse

consisting of this or that stuff, eaten ( " taken " ) in this or that order over

this or that period of time.

5. The rest of the being, body, mind, and spirit, steps " out of the way " of

the cleanse, and the cleanse then miraculously removes this or that " bad

stuff " , which our entire being could not otherwise figure out how to remove.

6. When you finish the cleanse, you are cleansed ... until the next time you

need to repeat the cleanse (for some reason ... hmmm).

7. At this point, your body, mind, and spirit reassert themselves in the

" usual " way, taking back control from the conscious mind concoction.

8. All is well.

So ... if you believe this, then by all means, cleanse your heart out. OTOH,

if this seems like utter nonsense to you, as it does to me, then learn to

live healthfully, 365 days a year, and let your being cleanse, restore, and

replenish itself, in accordance with ITS design, ITS awareness, and ITS

priorities. After all, 4 billion years of success isn't such an awful track

record, eh?

Hope this helps!

Best,

Elchanan

Colon Cleans?

Sorry to do this to you folks, but I have a question about colon cleansing.

I ran across an ad somewhere on the internet, can't remember where, that

explains--and shows pictures--of a " miracle cleanse. " The explanation is

that some fecal matter builds up in the intestine and clings to the walls,

while most of it moves on through. The pictures of results show tarry,

leathery-looking things in the shape of the intestines.

Supposedly, this stuff builds up, hardens, and stays in the gut, decreasing

the efficiency of nutrient absorbtion. The " miracle cleanse " requires a

5-day fast to allow most fecal matter to pass normally, then an herbal

cleanse to detach the hardened residue from the intestine walls.

Supposedly, the hardened residue detaches and folds in on itself, and goes

down the intestines and out of the body, like an inner coating of leather or

rubber!

Testimonials from past users say they feel much better after the cleanse.

Is this for real? Sounds like a scam to me! The cost of the herbal cleans

kit is $100. Has anybody heard of it? Is this something I would want to

try?

Ron
