Guest guest
Good for you! Yes! Global Juice Feast 2008 starts March 1st!!! http://JuiceFeasting.com I highly recommend visiting that website and listening to this MP3 http://tinyurl.com/2yyfd7 for those interested Well, I would call my own experience a modified juice fast since I have been sneaking in some raw food toward the end. Unexpectedly, I ran into some serious issues which made it difficult at times to go completely soley juicey 100% of the time. But I've always maintained making and consuming the juice, even taking my Vitamix to work with me on my bike daily, which is a really amazing achievement for me. I've been careful not to do bad food combining and try to let the juice go through my system without conflicts with any small raw snacking. You need to make it clear to yourself in the beginning what you expect of yourself. My juice feasting consultant, Yashpal, recommended I modify the juice feast in the beginning and do a true juice fast (no oils or concentrated proteins) for the first 7 days and that was really intense. I never lost so much weight so fast. It was amazing to see well-defined abs without a ton of directed exercise, that was a surprise. Actually I was very concerned and my friends and family were also scared a bit. Be prepared for that. I was fortunate enough to have time off from work because I did not have much reserve energy. But a true juice fast really isn't formally part of the JuiceFeasting.com regiment. Its up to you want you are willing to do. The colonic and enema regiments by themselves are a total trip and I won't go into that here. Its safe to say that you will learn to become way more comfortable with all aspects of your body and I think you will really blow your mind on how amazing it can be to be a soul living with directed intention on creating a new body for yourself, and the resulting feedback coming back at you from what your new body can do for you on a very spiritual level. Wow. After introducing limited foods and select supplements (as part of the Juice Feasting regiment) I got most of my energy back and at times I felt like I was on an energy high. The surreal part was also that just doing this regiment has seemed to really affect other people around me. There were times when my work associates were tripping out on my energy levels. In fact, several of my workmates decided to start doing green smoothie and juice regiments of their own. And one of these was a stubborn and cynical Rush Limbaugh type who has quite a big belly. Total shocker! I would have never have guessed! Additionally, my mom got a Vitamix and she is now starting on green smoothies with my stepfather. She is such a diehard SAD diet person, I was totally surprised! She raised me on Flintstones vitamins, meat & potatos nightmare food combinations, cooked buttery vegetables and dairy. Her whole world view is being shaken to the core with what she is learning about food and the lies our culture throws upon us about what we should be eating. (I just wish I could get her to shake the milk habit. So many people are completely convinced they need dairy to get calcium, its bizarre) As far as the results: *Juice Fasting has got to be the easiest way to lose weight AND sticking to raw food. Re: weight, I didn't think I had much to lose, I must have had some junk somewhere. That really surprised me. I never seemed to lose any muscle, I was worried about that. In fact my muscles became more defined and I haven't even been doing the resistance training like I should be. Although I do work outside and bike to work. *Great way to really go deep in learning about raw food. The JuiceFeasting.com site is totally amazing, the amount of material to learn each day is pretty overwhelming. I really wish I could have better access to the info there. *Juice Fasting was the best way for me to really stick to being raw. I'm just about to reach day 92, and I want to go to 100. *The more raw I have gone the more mellow I seem to have gone in my life. I think my testosterone levels have dropped as well the deeper I have gone raw. This is not something I totally understand yet. *I would not recommend starting this in the winter due to seasonal availability of food around here. March is probably a great time to start. *I'm wondering if when I'm done with this I will remember much about making non-Vitamix food. Juicing three+ times a day really makes it seem so normal/natural. Its kinda weird. *Definitely check out other people's juice feasting blogs for inspiration. I have my own but its not much of anything: http://people.tribe.net/Monkey_bucket *A lot of food addiction issues came to the surface. Be ready for deal with that. *Beyond that, I really don't know what additional results I achieved. I keep learning about things as they sneak up on me. I've got a followup appt with Yashpal, we'll see. *I may do another juice feasting, perhaps starting in late July of 2009. I think I can go deeper now that I have the first juice feast mostly behind me. *I feel so much more connected to so many of the raw food organizations, health consultants and local groups. We are so lucky to live in the Greater Seattle Area! *I feel something is going on with my intuition and food. I haven't quite put my finger on it yet. *For some reason I want to get everybody to go raw and I feel totally consumed with a passion to help people out. Perhaps this is just part of my obsessive compulsive personality, but I think when you have something special that has really transformed your life you want to share it with others. I actually am in a state now where I feel profoundly disturbed that others aren't doing green smoothies, raw power drinks and doing juice feasts. I'm not kidding. Recommendations: *Make sure you read all of the JuiceFeasting.com guidelines and try to educate yourself. There is so much to learn. *I would definitely recommend getting a consultant during your fast. I would go locally with Yashpal and/or Regan Golob. Actually, I like both. Tom & Susan at Raw Vegan Source are also very good resources as well as they have done quite a bit of fasting. *Make sure you understand and practice good food combining. *Tell people you know what you are going to do, its good to let the universe know what your intentions are. *Yashpal http://yashpal.com is scheduling a liver/gallbladder cleanse I think sometime soon. You might want to check that out as part of your program. *Get enough sleep! Pamper yourself. Your body needs to spend a lot of time and energy healing and rebuidling. I think I messed that part up. *As far as supplements, I highly recommend the Vitamineral Green, Waiora Natural Cellular Defense (zeolite), Marine Phytoplankton, Vitamineral Earth, Intestinal Draw Formula, Nettles, Parazyme, Chlorella, Wheat Grass juice, Essentially Oil, Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, cayenne. Guest guest
Thanks for the detailed reply, Daniel. It is quite something that several people decided to begin their own green smoothie/juicing regimen from seeing your own results. I would have considered that other raw preparations would be more enticing than green & veggie juices, for most people. Maybe when I've finished mine, others will be likewise inspired. : ) Anyway I'm looking forward to some positive results. I read through everything that is on the JuiceFeasting website before I decided to try it. I have been reading through the blogs and have been enjoying reading those, as well, including what David and Katrina post. I might do this feast again another year, but later in the summer when there is so much more produce in season and cheaper. BTW, Yashpal's website hasn't been updated since 2006, so it doesn't provide info on his upcoming cleanses. Blanc
