Opening a young coconut: revisited

Good afternoon,

I've just brought home a case of young coconuts from our local food co-op and

I'm again confronted with my personal weaknesses about whacking them with a

clever. I prefer to use power tools - a drill to make a hole so I can drain the

water and a hacksaw to open it up and scoop out the meat. However, I'm

reluctant to use tools that may have toxic residue so I'm trying to find a

stainless drill bit and hacksaw blade. Does anyone know of such things? I

would think they'd be available from the restaurant/butchery trade (I used to be

in those trades) but haven't found them yet - either in stores or on the

internet.

Any help would be appreciated. These coconuts get moldy fast. (btw are they

still safe to eat after the surface is moldy?)

Thanks,

Nick Hein
