Impact of Low-Level EM Fields From Kitchen Tools and Utensils on Food Quality (WAS: Using metal when mixing live smoothies)

Hi Josh, what a great question!!

Let's expand just a bit, for what you ask applies to all uses of metal tools

and appliances upon food; it is not limited to blending.

All matter projects an electromagnetic field. There is a school of thought

that the field projected by metal tools and utensils damages foods. There is

some evidence to support this. For example, I am told by my long-time

friend, Laurie Masters, whom I regard as a fabulously accurate source, that

John Kohler once did the following demonstration:

John took two apples, cut one open using a metal knife and the other using a

ceramic knife. After a short time, the one he had cut using the metal knife

was turning brown (oxidizing), the other was not.

I find similar anecdotal evidence from various Hispanic friends who describe

how they make guacamole. They always use wooden spoons, never metal, so that

the avocado does not turn brown (oxidize).

So yes, as a generalization there appears to be at least some evidence to

support using nonmetal tools and appliances when we can.

But your question is more specific: you ask about the " energy " . All the

discussion abut the " energy " in food is speculative. By this, I do not mean

to say that there is not truth to be found. Rather, I mean to say that this

has not been properly studied by anyone, to my knowledge, and that most of

what is said is stuff people make up.

One day, when we conduct proper research, I do believe that important and

useful information will emerge. But for now ....

What we DO know is this: that whenever we pass one electromagnetic field

through another, changes occur. We simply cannot itemize those changes at

this time.

Make sense?

Using metal when mixing live smoothies

I talked to a person over the weekend who is supposedly knowledgeable about

nutrition, who told me the following: Using a metal spoon or metal blades in

a blender when mixing your green smoothie (or other living concoction) will

destroy its energy and will cause your body to not get the intended benefits

(such as an energy boost). Does anyone know if there's any truth to this?
