Erinn, One of the biggest steps is getting off animal products to reduce acidity, which leaches the body's calcium. Other things that acidify: caffeine, alcohol, and aspirin. Here is a chart of foods and their calcium content that I created: http://www.soystache.com/calcium.htm I clearly distinguish between animal-based and plant-based foods.
