Uncertified Organic Grapes

Hi All,

I will be making a trip to Eastern Washington this weekend to get grapes. These

will be the same ones I sold last year. They are from a small farm that does

not use chemicals but does not sell enough grapes to justify going through the

certification process. The grapes are very similar in size, quality and variety

to the small green seedless biodynamic ones that Whole Foods sells on rare

occasions (for $4.99/lb).

In addition to the green ones, I'll also be selling purple Manukas. They are

both very sweet but the green ones are 'cleaner' and ripen more uniformly on the

vine. The Manukas grow in very large clusters, and on each cluster typically

1/2 are perfectly ripe while the remainder are either slightly unripe or

slightly overripe. It's really a matter of personal preference as I find in

some years my tastes gravitate to the purple and other times I like the green

best. For making raisins, the growers tell me that the Manukas are the best.

Both are $1.50/lb, minimum total order 10 pounds. A steal of a deal compared to

the overpriced, overrefrigerated, California imports available in stores. In

addition to being locally grown on a small farm and unrefrigerated, these grapes

are really excellent in quality - sweet, small, juicy and tender skinned.

I've set up another database for ordering which will close on Friday at 9 a.m.

If you want to place an order after that time, please call my cell no later than

noon on Saturday.

Pick up will be on Sunday evening between 6 and 8:30.

Thanks and please let me know if you have any questions about using the database

or anything else.

Regards,

Nora
