Guest guest
I just got back from Raw Health and Fitness Week, an event put on by Doug Graham (www.foodnsport.com <http://www.foodnsport.com/> ) at Cedar Springs Renewal Center near Sedro Woolley. There were 36 attendees, some from as far as England and Spain. There were great meals (all low fat raw vegan), challenging fitness classes, informative and inspiring lectures by Dr. Graham, and wonderful people. I would highly recommend it to anyone. At most of our evening meals one of the courses was raw soup, which was new to me. Just now I made myself a delicious and satisfying tomato-celery soup in my VitaMix. I blended four Roma tomatoes with three celery stalks, which makes a fairly thick soup. If I wanted a more watery soup I would have increased the ratio of tomatoes to celery. I like it more when it is not totally blended, but left kind of chunky. You can even add back some unblended pieces of tomato and celery. It's a yummy dish to have before your salad, or as a full meal. Try it! I was told that Dr. Graham will be speaking in Seattle near the end of September. I don't have full details on that yet, but will post that info when I get it. If you have the chance to attend, don't miss it. Guest guest
Mark, Thanks for sharing. I saw that he was going to be there @ Raw Health and Fitness Week. I wish I could have gone. Please do let us know if he is going to be in Seattle in Sept. I won't miss that one. Between Dr. G and Victoria I think I am finding my groove w/ Raw! Guest guest
Mark, Thanks so much for sharing this! I recently bought Dr. Graham's book, The 80/10/10 Diet, and have had a pretty successful first week on the program. Having a hard time consuming as much food as I should though. I'll definitely want to go hear him lecture if he comes to Seattle. Thanks again. Peace on earth. Guest guest
Cheryl, It has been hard for me to eat as much too, but it’s getting easier. I find that it is easier to eat more fruit when I do some minimal preparation first. For instance, instead of eating a couple of peaches whole and then stopping after I feel somewhat full, I’ll cut up 5 or 6 of them into a bowl in bite sized pieces. For some reason it seems easier and more satiating to eat them that way. Same thing with bananas in the blender. It’s hard for me to eat more than 3 or 4 bananas at a time when I just peel and eat them, but I can easily down a smoothie made of 8 or more. BTW, those attempting to follow the 80/10/10 diet will find this forum to be helpful: HYPERLINK " http://www.vegsource.com/talk/raw/index.html " http://www.vegsource.com/talk/ raw/index.html Dr. Graham and others will respond to questions there.
