I think your symptoms are severe enough to see a doctor.... I would recommend a naturopath , You could try John Ruhland, he is on Beacon Hill. I here good things about him through friends, I think if you called and talked to him you can get an idea if he could be of help or send you in the right direction.. Getting a different opinion other than a regular MD. Improving the diet is optimal with plenty of clean filtered water. Did anything in your environment change ? remodel, new carpet ,new bed , paint , new car ,job,? your physical environment can effect the health. Swelling is inflamation in most cases, numbness could be a few things. I would recommend some certain foods and herbs you could take for that but you would need to make sure it is not a heart condition and especially if you are on medications, that is a good reason to see an ND. I sure wish you well. Catherine - Breezi Peterson Sunday, July 22, 2007 11:17 PM I need advise, I am afraid from Dr opinions..loooong! June 25, 2007 I woke up feeling like I was getting the flu..I was very excited as I had not had a good detox since I fell off the 100% raw wagon just over 4 years ago. I was beginning to think that I did not have enough body energy to go thru a healing since having gone back to the SAD way of eating and failing miserably at any attempt to get back to raw for more than a week or two. By day 2 of this healing crisis I awoke with severely swollen hands, wrists, feet and ankles. The pain was an intense burning with tingling, severe aching and numbness in my arms, hands and fingers. I pretty much figured I had some form of arthritis (self diagnosis.I'm adopted). I immediately went back to eating all raw during the day w/some steamed veggies at night. I thought I would start to see some improvement but by day 21 I could no longer use my hands to even open a bottle of water and the pain was now keeping me from sleeping. I went to a Dr and she took one look at my swollen hands and feet and told me that this was definitely " not " arthritis but secondary heart failure and possibly kidney failure. She did an EKG and it showed my heart was skipping beats. She drew some blood and sent me home w/a 24 hour heart monitor attached. This was on a Friday. That night the pain was so bad I did not sleep at all. I went to Urgent Care on Saturday morning according to her voice message and the Dr there told me I had one of the worse cases of symmetrical arthritis he had seen in a long time. I told him that the 1st Dr said I had secondary heart failure but that I had experienced heart palpations off an on since I was in my 20's and I'm 60 now. He said he didn't feel the heart thing was an issue. He sent me home with pain pills and a 10 day bout of steroids and told me to find a new primary care Dr. (The swelling and pain stopped w/in 24 hours. Now at day 10 the swelling is coming back as is the pain and claw like hands.) I was able to find a new Dr the next day and she heard my heart being weird but an EKG w/her showed nothing. All the tests & X-rays came back negative for arthritis and all blood work OK. They still want me to see arthritis & cardio specialists. They are telling me that they feel I have Rheumatoid arthritis and that it can not be cured but can be kept under control thru drugs. That also I may need a pace-maker. My questions are: should I see the arthritis specialists to find out if I really do have arthritis? But scariest of all is the heart thing...should I follow thru and have the treadmill test done and see just what is going on w/my heart or are the steroids I took making my heart wacko? Or, should I find a good fasting clinic and let my body heal naturally and if you all think that is the best thing to do..does anyone know of a good fasting clinic here in the states that they can recommend? Thank you for any advice, information, input.
