Getting a Raw Deal - Eating raw means eating real at fresh-foods eatery

There was a time when Julie Fedderly didn’t shy away from a Twinkie.

Chicken wings and deep-fried mozzarella sticks didn’t faze her,

either. In fact, she and her husband, Dan, regularly enjoyed a Friday

night ritual of greasy spoon fare at their friendly neighborhood bar.

....Julie said, “I had been reading a lot about nutrition and how it

impacts health, and so I just stepped it up a notch. I didn’t just

want to help Dan lose weight, I wanted our whole family to eat

better. I learned how the heat of cooking practices can kill so many

of the nutrients that are beneficial to us. This became very

important to me, and my interest in ‘raw foods’ was born.”

And so a seed was planted, one that eventually gave life to “The Raw

Deal,” a unique fresh-foods eatery that is now housed in the former

Legacy Chocolates building.

Jeff,

Thanks for the note about this restaurant. The article didn't clearly

indicate what part of Wisconsin it's in. In case anyone else is interested

in visiting the place it's a few miles from EauClaire.
