Guest guest
Roger, I so agree with you. Ozone machines are meant to be used while people are not in the building and then the house/rooms should be completely aired out before breathing. I have heard of a woman who was unknowingly exposed to an Ozone machine and ended up in bed on a respirator for the rest of her life. When Ozone is used for medical purposes it comes in contact with liquid ( body fluids) , it then turns into Hydrogen Peroxide. For cleaning vegetables I have heard to first spray vegetables with ACV to give it an acid mantle then spray with HP. then wrinse well. This is to help remove decay/rot decomposing frombacterias and molds, that cause illness " rot " in the body, especially in those with already compromized imune systems, from allergies to cancer and everything in between. That is why I feel when making food for others such as potlucks we all should take that extra care washing fruits and vegetables for those who may be sensitive . Food unless picked strait from the tree or ground, has been handled and stored in less than desirable conditions and with other food that has rotted. Be well Catherine
Guest guest
What about air filters that use Ozone in it? I just bought an expensive Air filter with Ozone to help kill germs and bacteria in the air from Sharper Image. Also I know some people use an Ozonater in Hot tubs. What about those? Andrea Roger Padvorac <roger wrote: I can't see how this would be a gain. www.time.com/time/2006/techguide/bestinventions/inventions/meals4.html Ozone is an oxidizer just like bleach, except it is based on oxygen instead of chlorine, and generally oxidizes anything which can be oxidized. Its unlikely to affect compounds on top of the skin and under the protective wax or oil they coat fruit with. It really can't get at the toxins which have been absorbed into the fruit while it was growing. Where it does get, its just as likely to oxidize vitamins and enzymes as toxins. One of the more important benefits of fresh fruit and vegetables are the antioxidants like vitamin E, and one of the most common, powerful, active, and hurtful oxidants these antioxidants protect us from is ozone. These antioxidants help protect us from a wide range of toxins, and so the ozone wash would particularly be working to use up/deactivate this essential protection before the food is even eaten. Ozone is one of the key indicators in many urban areas of severe summer air pollution, and people with any type of respiratory problems tend to be very sensitive to it. The ozone will disperse into the household air from the water solution the Lotus system produces, and will just magnify any respiratory health problems. One of the incongruities of our government is that while it has strong standards about the maximum allowable ozone levels in air pollution, there isn't any regulation on household devices which intentionally or indirectly produce it, and some of the more defective appliances produce a lot of it. This is a common problem and serious concern that Consumer Reports has done testing on and written articles about. What is so amazing to me is the number of " health " devices which intentionally produce ozone, and the fact that a large percentage of people buying appliances like this are the ones who are most sensitive to and most injured by ozone. May your day be filled with clarity, grace, progress, and warm laughter, Roger - " mkh " <hovila Tuesday, April 10, 2007 9:53 PM Lotus sanitizing system I wonder if anybody has used this device or has a comment about it. I'm not that worried about germs, but I do like the idea of removing pesticides from non-organic produce. Guest guest
Adrea, when ozone hits anything liquid it turns to Hydrogen Peroxide, this should be ok with the hot tub , I am pretty sure that is what Europians use for thier public pools. I remmeber the German Olympic team saying they would not compete here in the U.S. unless they emptied the pool with chlorine and used Ozone instead. Are you sure your filter is not Negative Ions ? Some Negative Ion generators/filters have been known to malfunction and create ozone. Ozone as a rule should not be inhailed . Google search for more info, this is just the knowledge I have gained over the last 6 years from various sourses. Just make sure you are reading third or diss-intrest parties.
