Guest guest
If you are going to buy conventional produce, the following guide can give you a sampling of which produce contains the most pesticide residue. The complete data set is found at: http://www.foodnews.org/fulldataset.php You can download a wallet guide at: http://www.foodnews.org/walletguide.php You might also want to go to their home page and sign up for their newsletter. Another great resource for looking up the toxic effects of a particular pesticide is here: http://www.pesticideinfo.org/Index.html Ron
Guest guest
Thanks Ron for referencing the link. I found it very useful. I'm glad to know that avocadoes, onions, pineapples, and mangoes are the lowest in pesticide exposure among the conventional fruits. However, coconuts are not on the list. Hooray !!! (By the way, I cut my young coconuts in half with a $20 Fiskar loper from Home Depot after the water content has been emptied. Even my 9 year old son can cut a coconut in half. It is a dedicated loper to be used only for cutting coconuts and not used in the garden. The thought came to mind as I was pruning one day.) I'll think twice about picking up the good old fuji apple, 2nd highest on the list. And I rarely eat peaches. What a shocker!
