Why does cooked food feel more comfortable during these times? I am NOT TALKING ABOUT CRAVINGS. I have NO CRAVINGS FOR COOKED FOOD AS A MEANS OF COMFORT. I need to get to the bottom of this - IT IS NOT A NEW EXPERIENCE. Thank you Kay x Hello everyone, I would like to second Kays question - the weather here is atrocious - my nails are blue and my finger ends are dead - I didn't really get like this on cooked foods except in times of extreme cold but as soon as the temperature drops I am like this on rawfoods. I am drinking hot water to warm myself - not ideal but it is all I know to do - the thought of warm food is so inviting - just to warm my body - I have the central heating going here and it is July!! Guest guest
Hi Kay & Lynne, It is my opinion that raw food should never be eaten cold. It should always be eaten either at body temperature or warmer as long as it is below the temperature that the enzymatic action is de-activated. When food is cold it requires quite an amount of energy usage on the part of our bodies to warm it to the point of where the digestive enzymes can function, which is minimally one degree below normal body temperature. So this deprives us of the energy we require for keeping ourselves warm. Whereas when the food is warm(not cooked), we do not require to expend this energy as the temperature is already correct for the enzymes both in the foods, and the digestive enzymes to function.
