Annette,

My dear friend Laurie Masters sometimes suggests the following way of

looking at this: Imagine a continuum of all possible diets, where 0 (zero)

is the worst diet imaginable -- say Mars bars, M & Ms, soda, and nothing else

-- and 10 (ten) is the most perfect diet we can imagine, perhaps just living

off the quantum field.

Now if someone is living and eating at around a 3 or 4, which is the case

for most Americans (if even that), and then someone offers them a 5 or 6 or

even 7, that person will improve by a quantum leap. But eventually he/she

will hit a plateau and perhaps go searching for more.

We are discussing what I believe is a 9+ -- high-water, high-oxygen,

high-fuel, high-soluble fiber eating -- fruits and greens. Perhaps we can

score the program you described as an 8 or even an 8.5. OF COURSE " it will

work, " it represents a quantum leap improvement over almost anything else

imaginable. AND, at the same time, I'm suggesting that we can do even

better. But in my opinion, that they are even focused on pH puts them light

years ahead of almost anyone.

Also, they are correct in this: in general, as a matter of simple

biochemistry, most vegetables are more alkalizing than most fruits. And it

is also correct to say that some fruits may be slightly acidifying with

respect to digestive ash, e.g., cranberries. But digestive ash is not the

whole picture in terms of overall body biochemistry, and more important, we

choose to look at the whole package, the whole food, not just its mineral

content. As always, any single-factor approach to health, even an excellent

one, falls short of any high-quality holistic approach.

So I do not mean to trash what these people are doing, only to suggest that

we can go even beyond what they are doing.

Best,

Elchanan
