Great idea, Kay, thanks for the suggestion. I found several snippets I've

written on the topic, so I've simply copied and pasted them below. This

produces some redundancy, but I am teaching a workshop (ministry/law) this

weekend and so I choose to focus on that right now. Hope some find this

Hi Tara, I'm curious what has let you to choose fasting with vinegar and

water rather than just water?

Vinegar is basically a mixture of 1 part acetic acid (yes, pure acid) with

19 parts water. Acetic acid is sold to chemical labs in jugs labeled with a

skull-and-crossbones; in this form it is deadly. But reduced to a 5%

solution, commercial organizations are permitted to sell it as " food. "

When you are fasting, your body will cleanse deeply. Cleansing will release

large quantities of acid, among other things, into your system. Your system

will then use alkaline minerals, many also being released during the

cleansing process, to neutralize or at least ameliorate the intensity of the

acid. This is necessary, otherwise the acid would burn your tissue severely

in certain parts of your body, particularly on the way out as urine.

By adding acid to an already hyperacidic biochemistry, you will simply

impede your own cleansing process, and it is possible even to cause harm to

yourself. (This is unlikely unless the quantities of vinegar are large. But

you DO have some symptoms that seem to indicate significant underlying

toxicity and prior damage to your system.)

I have done month+ fasts and know others who have, as well. If you would

Also, a dear friend of mine, Dr. Tim Trader, supervises fasts and is

well-known and well-regarded in fasting circles. Tim is a long-term hygienic

Sans the flavoring, vinegar is 1 part pure acetic to 19 parts water. When

sold as acetic acid to chemistry labs and such, the jug comes labeled with a

skull and crossbones. You get the picture :)

The human body is an acid-producing, alkaline-seeking " machine. " All of what

we consider " activity, " physical activity/exercise, thinking, feeling,

imagining, eating, digesting, pumping blood, etc., produces acid byproducts.

In general, these must be eliminated as waste. Our body must add alkaline

material to these to neutralize (or at least ameliorate) the acid prior to

removing it. " Alkaline material " means alkaline minerals, the most abundant

of which are calcium and sodium. The more we load our bodies with acid, the

more we leach alkaline minerals, particularly calcium from our lean tissue,

especially bones.

So I typically recommend that people consume the most alkalizing diet they

can, and particularly so for athletes. Hence, my earlier recommendation to

build a program first around sweet fruits, then tender leafy greens

(lettuces), then more acidic fruits.

Vinegar is pure acid diluted in water. Grains and all animal flesh and dairy

foods are very acidifying to our bodies. Nuts and seeds are also somewhat

acidifying.

Vinegar is a polite marketing name for acetic acid, in a 5% solution. And in

that solution, the government allows companies to call it " food. " Never was,

never will be food. It's just acetic acid, plain and simple. And don't let

flavorings fool you (balsamic, cider, or whatever), a rose by any other name

is still a rose.

osteoporosis, etc. When you consciously choose to eat pure acid, you work

against yourself a bit. However, once again, compared with the changes you

ARE making, and assuming the quantities of vinegar are small, this can be

tweaked over time. One way to begin is by simply reducing the quantity of

vinegar you use, same with oil. I have found that if I toss the salad well,

a very small quantity of oil-based dressing goes a very long way.
