" (Mark Twain) Hi Lynne - I know organic is expensive; I pay £1.20 for a pack of 5 here in Cheltenahm, BUT it IS important to eat organic esp when One makes them a staple of the diet. Yuh know, a funny thing is I have HUGE dislike for watermelon - to the point that it's upset my system in the past! I don't even like the smell. But then I have two friends who detest bananas, one of whom dislikes avocadoes too - Needless to say she " can't get enough " Watermelon! PEACHES/NECTARINES: To add, on food storage - Most fruits donot do well if they are chilled before they are ripened. Peaches and nectarines in particular - the skins go wobbly and the fruit remains acidic if they are chilled to early; where as with pears One can get away with refridgerating them a little earlier. Fruits like figs will cause the tongue to " burn " if they are eaten underipe. I have even known my tongue to bleed when I once ate an underipe pineapple (in the days when organic was virtually non- existant) For most people living in the U.K I recomend they donot eat pineapple, even if it's organic; They are always underipe (I have no experience in London however?)
