Guest guest
Elchanan: No doubt your studies have shown you that what you describe below is the typical body response to a " stimulant. " Do you have studies, experimental data, biochemical data, showing that cacao does precisely this? Have you, yourself, done any studies with humans on the effects of cacao? Or is this assertion simply an application of general theory? Perhaps some of these " stimulant " substances, such as cacao, have " properties " which haven't been " viewed with the right frame of mind " yet; and therefore haven't been studied properly. swaraj, tev _____ Hi Tev, Limited time, quick response. Others have done the exploration you suggest, I am piggybacking upon their research. Right now, we have a party in the RF world going around selling this stuff and extolling its " nutrient " properties. He is telling people that caffeine even theobromine are nutrients!!! These are known poisons, and the body DEFINITELY enters a fight/flight response whenever either of these substances is present in any quantity at all. This is quite well known and well documented in the literature. Not even the chocolate industry itself really responds with much. Also, almost no one can eat cacao without significant sweetening and so forth, and so rather rapidly we get food combining problems and other problems. If you wish to convince yourself further, try this simple experiment. 1. Order some of those raw cacao beans. 2. Eat a monodiet (one single food, such as watermelon or bananas) for 3-5 days, the longer, the better. 3. Start the next day with a handful of cacao beans and observe your system. Leave your schedule open enough so that you can really notice your experience. Measure your BP, pulse before and after, then awhile after. (Ask a friend for help, probably easier.) Observe the dilation in the pupils of your eyes. Notice your focus, concentration, sense of " energy, " etc. 4. Share your experience with everyone else! :) Best to all, Elchanan -- ------------------------ [ SECURITY NOTICE ] ------------------------ rawfood , rawschool . Guest guest
Hi Tev, It may be of interest to note that there are more plants poisonous to humans in nature than there are edible one's. There appears to be a group of people in our society who claim that because a plant occurs naturally that either it, its seed, or product(s) made from it are safe for human consumption. Every plant has within it elements which are nutritious to humans. Not all plants are edible due to a preponderance of those elements or an element that comes within the realm of being poisonous( non-nutritious) and stimulants come within that category. Now as far as having carried out personal research on this subject, I think you will agree that it is hiding our heads in the sands of time to ignore the mass of research that already has been done in this area, as well as the anecdotal experience of the masses who find themselves unable to function without their " hit " from their favourite stimulant. I recently had a client who had not drunk coffee for over three years, and upon drinking one cup could not sleep for 36 hours. Now I accept that coffee is not cacao. They both do contain well researched stimulants though. And although you might still well choose not to convinced otherwise from your present stance, I too suggest that you carry out the experiment suggested by Elchanan. And having done so advise us of the results. John John L.
