E rawfood [rawfood ] On Behalf Of Lynne Thursday, June 09, 2005 10:26 AM rawfood [Raw Food] dog health Hello everyone, I wanted to share with the group what is going on in the rest of my life at the moment. Some of you will know that I have four dogs and they mean so much to me - I started to feed them raw shortly after Nick and I went raw in March and they are now established on rawfoods and like it a lot. My old dog - 16 year old Sammy has a cyst or small tumour on his head - this thing looked really nasty and I got worried. He has had it for 6 weeks and it was raw looking and some head shaking going on too. I spoke to Elchanan and he gave me guidance I am so glad to say, because really with an old dog like this anaesthetic and everything that goes with it is not a good idea - also I did not want to intervene - I wanted to let his body deal with this in the natural way if possible, because a vet would be doing surgery and wanting to use antibiotics which these days I feel there is no use for in my life and my animals - we have had enough poisons. This feels quite scary for me - I can trust my own body and know that inside me is the idea of wellness and all I have to do is give it the right nutrients and conditions and then let it work and yet allowing this process to happen for my dog is still scaring me to bits - crazy isn't it! With invaluable advice from Elchanan I decided to try a short fast once a week to see if his body could be given chance to mend and the first one was for 48hrs on Monday and the results so far have been amazing - the cyst has opened and it has gone down a lot - smells terrible though! - but it is funny - the smell used to be on Sammy's breath - now his breath is quite sweet but the smell has moved to this cyst, so all the poison that was inside him is coming out of this thing. After the mini-fast Sammy actually played a little bit - he hasn't " played " with a toy for a good while, hopefully now he is on the mend. I couldn't believe it this morning when I saw how much the tumour had gone down. I saw the evidence of the fast - just 24 hrs in the dog and the difference that it made. I have made decisions about my 4 dogs - they have all been vaccinated every year poor things and I have been reading a lot and learning about these poisonous things we do to ourselves and our animals. I have had a flu jab every year for a few years too - because my breathing was bad so I am in the same boat practically as well - so hopefully these things will get out of our bodies - certainly giving it all a good shot. (excuse the pun!!) I dont feel out of the woods with this completely yet - it is still a bit scary as I think the world of this old chap - but far better this way than putting more toxins in and diverting his body and mine from the healing we both need. I am so pleased I have the support in this group - I couldn't have coped with this on my own and I am so grateful to Elchanan. Love to all Lynne

Guest guest
I too started thinking about the food I was feeding my dog. She's a little 6 yr old, 7# poodle that was given to us about five months ago. She's one of those lovable ones that has to be in your lap or near you constantly. Problem with her was her " horrible " breath. She cleans herself like a cat, so giving her a bath only lasts a few hours. I took her to the vet and had her teeth cleaned. Her breath smelled good for a couple of days, and then that foul smell was back. Then I got to reading about raw feeding for dogs and thought why not. She's been raw for just over a month now and my what an improvement. All that grain that they put in kibble must ferment terribly as dogs have no enzymes to digest starch. So now she's my little " raw buddy " . We keep each other accountable every day. Yes it's true just as our body odors and eliminations cease to smell, so do the dogs when fed their natural specie appropriate diets. God must have planned it that way to keep the earth a sweeter smelling place. :-) Love, Sharon > Hello everyone, I wanted to share with the group what is going on in the > rest of my life at the moment.
