Guest guest
No idea what articles or the like, but this I can say: cacao is a stimulant to the human body. By stimulant, I mean simply that the body responds with its standard " fight-or-flight " biochemistry. The adrenal gland secretes cortisol, among other substances, causing the following direct effects, among others: 1. Shifting of blood supply from viscera to arms/legs (for fighting or fleeing). Result: partial shutdown of internal organ functions until the " emergency " passes. On a chronic basis, substantial diminution of overall system functions. 2. Shifting of blood supply from forebrain to hindbrain. Reason: need to react quickly, not cogitate, problem-solve, experience one's feelings, be imaginative, etc. Result: Become more " alert " but less intelligent, quite literally. On a chronic basis, start making major " life mistakes " and such. 3. Diminishes vital response capacity ( " immune " functions) throughout the entire system. Reason: reprioritization -- stay alive now, kill a few bacteria later. Result: On a chronic basis, body's overall vital response mechanism is severely depleted, creating an opening for all manner of " diseases " and " conditions. " So if you want an occasional treat and are willing to experience the " high " and " low " of it, enjoy. Otherwise, pass. Guest guest
Elchanan: No doubt your studies have shown you that what you describe below is the typical body response to a " stimulant. " Do you have studies, experimental data, biochemical data, showing that cacao does precisely this? Have you, yourself, done any studies with humans on the effects of cacao? Or is this assertion simply an application of general theory? Perhaps some of these " stimulant " substances, such as cacao, have " properties " which haven't been " viewed with the right frame of mind " yet; and therefore haven't been studied properly. swaraj, tev " INFO @ Vibrant Life " <VLinfo wrote: No idea what articles or the like, but this I can say: cacao is a stimulant to the human body. Best to all, Elchanan The experience of dynamic religious living transforms the mediocre individual into a personality of idealistic power. Religion ministers to the progress of all through fostering the progress of each individual, and the progress of each is augmented through the achievement of all.
