Hi Elchanan, Although I offered the Avocado to him early in life and have offered it to him occasionally since, he's not very fond of them. I make an avocado wrap about twice a month and I always offer him a couple of bites of my avocado. Sometimes he'll take it, other times he won't. I have found that Bryson seems to know what he needs. He'll go in streaks on a particular food then not touch it for a while. It was always my understanding that babies needed the higher fats (omega) as it was necessary for their brain development. Nora did address that in another post, basically re-assuring me that Bryson was getting enough of the omega fats from the fruits he was eating, but any other info you have on this I would be interested in. <>< Helen of Tennessee _____ Hi Helen, I agree wholeheartedly with Nora. If you filter out all the marketing messages about EFAs and brain development etc., you are left with not much to read on the subject. The omega fatty acids are indeed vital to brain development and function at EVERY age, but the quantities we need are very small. I suspect the underlying issue is this: most of the nutrients, fats and otherwise, being consumed by the population at large are damaged or destroyed nutrients. In addition, the USDA, in establishing its nutrient recommendations, incorporates massive margins of error. So we really do need only 5-6 % of our calories from protein ASSUMING WE ARE EATING ENOUGH CALORIES (another upcoming post) and perhaps 3-8% from fats, no more. More (protein, in particular) is foreign matter to the body, it must be eliminated or stored if it cannot be eliminated. Fat is stored, but as you-know-what!!!
