Cigarette smoking is a poisonous habit that endnagers the health of

the smoker as well as that of those around him. The tobacco plant

itself is poisonous and after the curing process the leaves are

rendered even more toxic. The toxins ingested with tobacco smoke and

will quickly resolved in illness in even informally healthy person.

And those already toxic, the cigarette habits and result in chronic

diseases.

This is a habit that has only deleterious effects. So good

whatsoever has ever come from smoking and every effort should be made

to eliminate this practice forever. Is there absolutely impossible to

attain health without limiting its poking.

Key concepts

1.The dangers of smoking have been recognized since the 1500s.

2. The increase of female smokers over the past twenty years

corresponds directly with the increased incidence of lung cancer,

cardiovascular diseases and other degenerative diseases.

3. Carbon monoxide in cigarette smoke interferes with the bloods

ability to carry oxygen.

4. Nicotine is a very poisonous substance found in tobacco smoke.

5. The tar and cigarette smoke has been proven to be

carcinogenic.

6. Lung cancer, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, cardiovascular

diseases, peptic ulcer and other chronic diseases have been linked

to cigarette smoking.

7. Involuntary smoking adversely affects the fetus, children and

adults.

Salient facts

1. Tobacco ranks as a major crop in more than 60 countries.

2. A government survey from 1979 showed there are 1.7 million

teenage girls and 1.6 million boy to a regular smokers. (bob note:

this is obviously dated now..)

3. Cigarette smoke contains more than 3,000 toxic chemicals.

4. Carbon monoxide has 230 times the affinity of oxygen for

hemoglobin and therefore impairs oxygen transportation.

5. In a pure state, congestion of nicotine will result in

vomiting, great weakness, rapid but week calls, and possibly collapse

or even death.

6. Studies have shown that men who smoke more than one pack

pretty hard about 20 times more at risk of developing lung cancer

than our nonsmokers.

7. Chronic bronchitis and emphysema deaths are also about 20

times more frequent people who smoke more heavily.

8. Cigarette smoking accelerate our 28 artrherosclerosis and may

double the risk of myocardial infarction.

9. There is abundant evidence that maternal smoking directly

retards the rate of fetal growth and increases the risk of

spontaneous abortion, of fetal death, and of infant death and

otherwise normal babies.

10. When nonsmokers are subjected to cigarette smoke, their heart

rate, blood pressure, and the levels of carbon monoxide in their

blood increase.]

" coronary heart disease is the most frequent cause of death in the

United States… " (bob note: see post from Elchanan that this may now

be surpassed by iatrogenic causes…)

" a small fire at one end – a big fool at the other " G.B. Shaw

" some of the 19 poisons are the deadliest in their toxic effect,

e.g., pyridine, nicotine, prussic acid, and carbon monoxide…. Each

one of my is with another to be the first to show you the portals of

the post – mortem existence somewhere beyond the clouds:

1. Carbon monoxide – prevents oxidation of blood.

2. Nicotine – half a drop his fatal! (bob added exclamation

point!)

3. Formic alderyde – a strong irritant.

4. Carbolic acid – burns your throat.

5. Pyridine

6. Furfural – responsible for " short windedness " and tremors.

7. Acrolein – degenerates the brain cells.

8. Salt petre in the paper keeps the `fag burning'

" one cigarette causes a rise of 10 – 15 points in your blood

pressure, I.E.., increasing the work of your heart by 10%. "

All the best,

Bob (fellow journeyman)
