Water fasting was-- Re: Pleasure Trap

I had read about this in several places and was wondering the correct

way to do this... Since my screw up this weekend I feel the need to

do a fast and am unsure what to do and what to expect.

see post over on RawJourney or RawSchool to Blake...

Do you just drink the water when you are hungry??

yes..

Is there a certain amount that should be drank?

no, as needed

I was reading a journal of sorts about a 19 day fast and he

mentioned getting weaker as the days went on but knew from experience

that his energy would come back... is this weakness due to no

vitamins and minerals??

no, there's vitamins and minerals stored in the body....

should a newbie do only a three day fast for now or less? or more??

I understand that every individual is different but there has to be

some guidlines out there somewhere that are correct and healthy. In

your research have you come across anything such as this??

See Nora's post on RawSchool re: this question....it depends upon

where you're starting from. Many describe a 3 day fast as " short " ,

and something that many/most can probably do...

all the best,

Bob

Hi everyone,

Almost everyone who tries to fast alone and without proper education comes

away disappointed. So to all who would fast, particularly for the first

time, TALK (don't just email) with someone who has SUPERVISED (not just

done) fasting. Really....

Also:

- Fasting cures nothing, don't even try.

- Fasting in and of itself does not lead to sustainable weight loss, again,

don't even try.

- Fasting does not put an end to cravings nor to any other self-defeating

eating habit, don't even try.

- Never EVER fast while taking any medication whatsoever, even herbs,

aromatherapy, essential oils, etc.

- Fasting consists of several distinct parts: preparing, fasting per se,

breaking the fast, and reentering the world. If you don't understand each

and all of these distinctions, then learn first, fast second.

- Fasting is, first and foremost, an act of faith -- and this is so

regardless of ones religious or spiritual beliefs. It goes far beyond

cessation of eating.

Anyway, I really do suggest that you learn from someone who really knows

BEFORE you fast.

Best to all,

Elchanan

Best to all,

That was an excellent commentary on fasting, but surely

you aren't going dogmatize fasting with this concept below.

Animals fast, and it has nothing to do with " an act of faith. "

The bodies' of animals function in " fasting " mode to accomplish

the task of restoration.

For many humans, fasting may be utterly tied to " an act of faith, "

as you suggest; but I have discussed with others, on fasting forums,

of how they approach fasting much differently (many, as a discipline,

and not as an act of faith).

The experience of dynamic religious living transforms the mediocre individual

into a personality of idealistic power. Religion ministers to the progress of

all through fostering the progress of each individual, and the progress of each

is augmented through the achievement of all. [The Urantia Book: 1094:1]
