It was wonderful and filled the chocolate craving I needed... I even let hubby taste it and he loved it.. SHOCK!!!! and none raw eter and he loved it... whooo hooo!! anyway i used Karen's recipe without the spirulina and used olive oil and coconut oil it was all good... question tho.. what makes it thicken so much?? I put about a 16 oz glass of watter to it after it was blended and it still needs lots more... Another comes from Karen Parker, until recently the chef at Gabriel Cousens' Tree of Life: Chocolate Sauce, Karen Parker 1 cup raw carob powder 1 cup dates or 1/2 cup organic raw honey 1/2 cup flax or olive oil 1 teaspoon spirulina ? coconut butter Blend all ingredients until creamy, adding oil and/or water as needed to turn sauce over. Keeps indefinitely in the fridge, but will thicken over time. Annette _____ Hi Debbie, Annette, and all, I realize this sort of concoction tastes good, but it is not particularly good for you. You are combining a very dense sugar with skads of fat and pouring the mixture over a sweet fruit. This combination will never never digest well inside you. If you did NOT have at least mild indigestion afterward, that is a clear indication that your digestive system is not yet fully functional. Also, the fact that the recipe above " keeps indefinitely " in the fridge should tell you something ... it's indigestible!! Anything digestible " spoils, " eventually even nuts and seeds spoil, particularly if not properly stored. Long shelf-life is NOT our friend!!!!! Here is another recipe, properly combined, courtesy of Dr. Tim Trader: Blend the following: - 2 tablespoons raw carob powder - 6 dates - 4 black mission figs (or substitute 2 tablespoons of raisins if figs not available) - 1 cup water If you can find the figs, this really will taste chocolate-y! Please note that not all carob powder is raw and/or organic. You have to check for both. Enjoy!
