I believe the ultimate goal of an herbalist is to prevent disease by encouraging the eating of various herbs in the daily diet, together with fresh raw organic fruits and vegetables. There are far too many herbs to list but they could include garlic, onions, alfalfa, dandelion leaves, pumpkin seeds, chickweed etc, and also on my course at least it is emphasised all the time that we are not treating symptoms but we are always searching for and dealing with the underlying cause. Symptoms alone should never be treated in herbalism. Just my 2 cents! best regards Persian _____ Hi Persian, This is precisely the point, you cannot " treat " the cause, you can only remove the cause, If there is some toxin, irritant, or the like, or add genuine nutrients if these are truly deficient in the diet. Have you seen my post on Toxicity vs. Deficiency? This point is covered in that post in some detail, please let me know if a repost is in order. There is no such thing as an herb deficiency, I have never heard any herbalist claim otherwise, nor would I ever expect to hear such a claim, it would be ludicrous. There is no condition the body can heal on its own that requires the use of an herb or any other treatment, OTHER than problems resulting from trauma or from some genuine genetic defect (very rare, though becoming more common as our species begins to devolve). Persian, I have the impression that you have studied herbs extensively and that you may be quite attached to your work with them. I can offer that you have before you a great and wondrous, though admittedly perhaps a bit scary, opportunity to make a quantum shift in your perceptions. Whether you do or do not embrace that opportunity is a free will choice for you, of course. But I can tell you that various people, myself included, have seen the body perform " incredible " healing using only a healthy diet combined with appropriate sunshine, activity, rest, fresh air, companionship, touch, etc. Best to all, Elchanan -- ---------------------[ Ciphire Signature ]---------------------- vlinfo signed email body (1763 characters) on 25 May 2005 at 21:41:18 UTC rawfood ------------------------------- : Ciphire has secured this email against identity theft. : Free download at www.ciphire.com.
