Guest guest
Hi everyone, Most of my life I've " worked " on my weight and tried various " diets " . I've always struggled with never being satiated after eating. I've noticed I can eat a large cooked meal - to the point of being quite uncomfortable - and still want more. Being full was never the same as being satisfied. When I first tried raw, I aimed for 75% raw and, while I felt better, I was always looking for more to eat, as usual. About one month into this time, my family and I went camping. My husband and I decided we wanted to stay raw on the camping trip and wondered what to bring. For greatest ease, we brought lots of fresh fruit and we brought salad makings. The two other families we camped with spend hours cooking over a camp stove and cleaning up (lots of work). We ate nectarines, oranges, bananas, etc. and for dinner we had salad. We were never hungry! We hiked all day, kayaked, played with our two children - we were expending more energy than usual, but we were never hungry. One night we had to toss most of our salads as we were quite full and couldn't eat any more! The other families were amazed watching us, and honestly we were amazed too. It was the first time I'd ever experienced satiety after eating. It was a remarkable feeling to be fully satisfied (on what seemed to little food at that!). When we returned home, I returned to 75% raw and raw gourmet recipes and no longer felt satisfied again. I went back to cooked foods for about 1 1/2 years before I read Raw Family and decided to try again, only at 100% raw. I was much more successful this time, but still not fully sated as I experienced camping. Last year, I tried one month on only fruit. It was a wonderful month and I felt satisfied again, but a little spacey. Now, this last month and a half, I've been eating mostly fruit with the addition of greens and I feel wonderful again - I've experienced being fully satisfied again with no spacey feelings (unless I'm going through emotional stuff). It amazing me just much peace I feel in this experience of satiety. I no deal with continuous desire to eat more and more. It frees up a lot of my time and energy to direct in other ways than food! Guest guest
Carolyn~ Thanks for sharing this wonderful experience with us! I think you really summed up my experience with experimenting with various percentages of raw/cooked. I also am amazed at the feeling of satisfaction, fullness without feeling uncomfortable & just general feeling of well-being that I only get when I am focused on 100% raw! I think that those who supplement with cooked food will--unfortunately--never experience the true benefits of raw. thanks again, Leslie
