It wouldn't be there for me to slaughter if I hadn't consumed its kind in

the past.

I don't live in a fairy tale world in which cattle and sheep are frolicking

in green pastures beside ponds stocked full of fish and chickens scratching

around on adjacent land where no one plans to use their flesh, dairy

products, and eggs. These animals would not exist.

Whatever I consume in my lifetime, the animals from which those products

come, have a life because I consume what they produce. I think the life of

an animal which has good quality (free range animals that are well-cared

for) is better than no life at all and that's what we're really talking

about.

I do believe there are better ways to use our planet's resources than to

raise animals for our consumption. I believe making sure you and your

partner do not produce more children than the two that will replace the two

of you is the best way to preserve our resources. In some cultures, a man's

wealth is measured by the number of children he has. This cultural value

hurts the planet far more than the consumption of animal products by one

individual with one child to replace himself.

I know some of you may be aghast from the things I say here. I think what I

say is an honest assessment of why domestic animals exist and what would

happen if we didn't consume animal products. I seriously believe a raw diet

is best for me but I can only succeed on a raw diet by being truthful and

acknowledging some of the related issues.

I have been following this conversation line..

What's everybody's point? - just the point they are making I guess?

What I mean is..

The world is as it IS. We all have free choice in deciding what we

want to create. If it doesnt serve one person's purpose you bet it

will serve someone elses!

My dad hunts wild animals and eats them - like rabbits, pheasant etc.

Seems a fairly humane way to go about affairs - It doesnt lead to

excess, however I bet there are some babies left without their

mothers..

He use to skin rabbits in the kitchen when I was a kid - Certainly

put me off eating any! Didn't put off anyone else in the family

eating though.

Each person is individual with their values and point to life. We can

only educate by example and will still be leaving individuals to make

their own choice.

Even if one is not responsible for a situation, how one choices to

act in any given situation is a responsibility on that individuals

part.

The only way one can shape the world is by the actions taken for

yourself each day. No point in complaining about another person's

point of view or daily habits.. The actions we take will affect those

who choice to learn or copy from our actions.

And the above is MY point! :)
