While I was reading it, I was like WOW...that's a WHOLE L O T of 'nannas!!! You don't feel stuffed after eating all that?? I don't think I could eat that much. But then you may be a bigger person than my little 5'3 " frame <grin> and you did go out and play tennis afterall :-) Re the number of bananas (and the added dates)... were they specifically because of the tennis match you were planning for the afternoon (high sugar for energy)? Ah yes, I'll bet that was what it was! If that is the case, if you were not going to be in a match, would you have eaten different (lower sugar) fruits? I wonder, if the sugar contents make any difference in Dr. D's plan? Are any certain fruits considered more valuable or less desirable I wonder?? I just need to go over to the link Valerie sent and READ about it, huh? Hmmm....reading this forum tonight has me yearning for fruit I just picked up some organic blueberries, raspberries, and 2 baby watermelons today....guess what we're having for breakfast?? Guest guest
How would you get all the calories (avocados/nuts) you need if you're to keep the fat low, too? I'll read the site to see if he discusses this, but if you have time, I would love to read a sample of what you eat in a day (quantity-wise especially). ------------------- Thanks, Denise --------- Hi Denise.. although it wasn't me that you asked about what they ate, thought I'd offer today's " snapshot " : Breakfast: ~8-8:30am.. 4 bananas 8 dates - medjoool -med/lg. ~555 kcal Lunch: ~11:30am 3 bananas 10 dates ~507 Kcal Snack ~3pm 3 bananas raisins 1/2 c. ~357 kcal Dinner ~6pm Tomatoes - 2 Whole Lettuce - Romaine ~1.5C Celery - 3 stalks - med. Spinach, young - 1 c Mixed baby greens - ~1C ~104 Kcal (the salad dressing is included in the above; I used Doug Graham's suggestion of blending tomatoes, celery and a little lemon (he actually recommends oranges...didn't have any of those available tonight) Snack ~8pm (and a little later) 2 Bananas 1 Celery ~223 Kcal (this is my homemade Sports Drink, also per Doug Graham's recipe...the above blended in about 32 oz of water.. for the day, the total came out 1,745 Kcal -- deliberately a little over my goal, knowing that I was playing tennis tonight. The calonutrient ratio came out 91% Carbohydrates, 5% protein, and 4% fat. Had no nuts/seeds/avocados today (deliberately..I had some last night..) this is where my eating has kind of evolved since last September, and it looks a lot like this most days..some days there are a few nuts, seeds, or maybe a little avocado... usually as part of dinner some others: Vit. A: 138% Vit. C: 394% (sometimes it's as high as 1,000%) Fiber: 297% Protein: 23g (a little on the low side for me...but not too bad...) calcium 31% (not as worried about it at the moment, since I know that I'm keeping my pH alkaline, the body won't be using the calcium up neutralizing any acidity...., other than my exercise wastes...) Iron: 58% seems ok.. Felt great, had high energy all day, and especially during my 4 hrs. of tennis. the bananas may be starting to give way to more melons, as they come more into season. Had one yesterday for breakfast, for example.. had a few mangoes recently also..yummy! note that the big change for me has been the inclusion/base of sweet fruits, in this case bananas and dates. (thanks again to Elchanan!) analysis taken from Nutridiary (www.nutridiary.com) see previous posts for more on that... That's what it looks like...hope this helps.. all the best, Bob

While I was reading > it, I was like WOW...that's a WHOLE L O T of 'nannas!!! You don't feel > stuffed after eating all that?? no...and yes, bananas are now a staple for me: from at least two different sources, TC Fry, and Doug Graham, who both have described bananas " as an almost perfect food.. " , I find them to be ok to look at, pleasant tasting, full of energy (sugar), easily digested, and economical. at 39-79c/lb., I can eat of a lot of bananas. I don't think I could eat that much. it takes some getting used to....I've found that my stomach will expand to accomodate...lol! But > then you may be a bigger person than my little 5'3 " frame <grin> a 5'9 " here.... nd you did go > out and play tennis afterall :-) yes, one of my primary aerobic exercises... > > Re the number of bananas (and the added dates)... were they specifically because of the tennis match you were planning for the afternoon (high sugar for> energy)? no...only that evening snack was for extra energy for the match...the rest were for energy for the body for the day... > > If that is the case, if you were not going to be in a match, would you have > eaten different (lower sugar) fruits? no...I've pretty much switched to eating some high sugar, " sweet " fruits as part of my " base " - and bananas are so easy...just peel and eat.... I wonder, if the sugar contents make > any difference in Dr. D's plan? he recommends 80% carbohydrates minimum... Are any certain fruits considered more valuable or less desirable I wonder?? fresh, whole, raw...eaten one at a time until satiated...or something very close to that...meaning that we need to get enough calories.... I just need to go over to the link Valerie > sent and READ about it, huh? outstanding idea! lol > > Hmmm....reading this forum tonight has me yearning for fruit I just > picked up some organic blueberries, raspberries, and 2 baby watermelons > today....guess what we're having for breakfast?? yummy fruits, I guess! and I find that it works better to eat melons alone/first....wait maybe 30 minutes or so, and then have the berries... all the best, Bob
