Food] How much fat?

Leslie:

I don't know the optimal on a raw or living foods " live-it " LOL versus

" die-it " . But on the Dr. Dean Ornish Program for Reversing Heart Disease

that I

coach people on -- a person needs between 15 and 35 grams of fat per day.

That

is 1.5 grams per ten pounds of weight or 3.3 grams per kilogram of body

weight.

Another way to look at it is 10% of calories. So if our calorie intake is

1000 per day (for example) then 10% is 100 calories from fat (1 gram of fat

has

9 calories) or 11 grams of fat. All whole foods contain some fats as the

cell

walls and organelle walls are made up of triglycerides and other lipids.

Packaged foods are able to say zero fat if 0.5 or less grams of fat are in

one

serving. They also don't count by industry request mono or diglycerides as

fat.

The body processes and uses mono and diglycerides as fat so again people

think they are eating low fat foods which may contain large amounts of fat.

My sincere hope is as more people open up to trying RF or even just

accepting

RF as a valid alternative that some of the billions of dollars of research

money will go to researching the effects and composition of RF and its

practitioners and the difference that RF can make.

Just a reminder that 1.5 grams per ten pounds, or 10% of calories, are best

interpreted as MAXIMUMS, not targets. If you aim there, you will almost

surely go over, and your energy and other indicators of vitality will be

diminished.

Best to all,

Elchanan
