Guest guest
Hi everyone, I've been having a hard time this week and I just thought I'd share what's happening. As I said previously, I ate cooked food this weekend and resumed 100% raw Monday. The last month of 100% raw was really comfortable. I ate when hungry and felt wonderful. When I entered my diet into nutridairy, I was concerned with the low calories (my average day had less than 1000 calories), but I also knew I wasn't hungry and I was reluctant to eat more without feeling hunger as a signal. I spoke to Elchanan last week and he also expressed concern over my low calories. When I explained I didn't want to eat without hunger, he suggested just adding one extra banana or orange a day for awhile, then more as I was ready. That seemed reasonable and I agreed to try it out. Then my cooked weekend happened and I returned home to resume raw. Monday was easy as I was just not hungry - all that cooked food over the weekend was just sitting in me (to illustrate, I showed a 6 lb weight gain on the scale from just Sat. and Sun.). But then Tues., Wed., and Thurs. came and I was really struggling. I was staying raw by sheer will power each day. I was shaky, I was weepy, I was emotional, I longed to eat, eat, eat. I responded by eating more raw food and eating earlier in the day than was usual for me. Finally, I emailed Elchanan for help. We talked by phone yesterday and he explained that my need for more fuel had caught up with me. I was dealing with more emotions than usual after seeing my mom, and that required more fuel. I have young children that need me and that requires fuel. Elchanan assured me that my body's signals were quite normal and that my response, eating more raw foods, was completely appropriate. Just hearing that helped me feel better. Today, I'm doing better. I'm not all the way back to feeling my usual self yet, but I'm much improved and looking forward to feeling better yet.
