Guest guest
As I begin to write this introduction I am already filled with anxiety to expose myself, afraid you will judge me harshly for my past ignorance, indulgence, and lack of respect for health and wellness. I am very new to eating raw foods, but the desire in my heart to educate myself is strong. I want to eat and live as healthy as possible today. Let me tell you about myself. I am 41 years old. I have been obese since the age of 3, when, my parents tell me that my weight doubled. I had not been under 300 pounds since the age of 12. I developed high blood pressure in my early 20's, diabetes at 39. On April 26th, 2004 I underwent a surgical procedure called the duodenal switch with a bilopancriatic diversion. This is a weightloss surgery that modifies your stomach to the size of 3 oz. post op, but it eventually will be 6 to 8 oz. over time. The surgery also creates a malabsorbtion. I only absorb approx. 60% of what I eat, except carbs, I still absorb carbs because they are digested in the entire small intestine. Post op diet calls for high protein, low carbs. For the last year that is the way I have eaten. Since my surgery a year ago I have lost 196 pounds. My high blood pressure and diabetes are resolved, and have been since the surgery. I have done tremendous damage to my body. Over the past year I have completely changed my eating habits. I am able to make wiser choices, and control what I put in my mouth. In mid April I had to have a hysterectomy, for a pre-cancerous condition. When I learned I could have cancer my dad introduced me to some information by Shannon Day. I have been drinking home made juice, (carrot, celery, garlic), chloraform (sp) fresh grape juice, and trying to eat all natual. After 7 days of grinding up tons of vegies, eating oats, and beans in vegie broth, I began failing, and going back to meat, and bread. I found this site last night, and I wanted to ask for any advise/guidance that you can offer a very new, novice to this lifestyle. I want to succeed. I found out a week ago, that my surgical biopsy came back as Stage IIb endometrial adenocarcinoma, an even bigger motivation to eat natural healing foods. Due to my DS/BPD weightloss surgery I have to take Allergy A & D, a water soluable A,D,E,K supplement, along with Calcium Citrate a quick absorbing calcuim supplement, and potassium. These are the only pills I take at this point. I have to make sure I am getting adequate protein due to the malabsorbtion as well. I guess that is a bit confusing to me right now. Vegan vs. raw. I am going to spend a lot of time here reading. Any direction on websites, info, would be greatly appreciated. Sorry so long, but thank you for taking the time to read this.
